The Rina Latif label was created over thirty years ago. Starting as an experimental “lab” working closely with a handful of skilled artisans, starting with the use of the ancient craft of hand block printing. The lab grew into a studio which further experimented with unique embroidery techniques, RL’s excruciatingly detail-oriented signature tapestry embroidery was born, with the focus beginning and remaining botanical and nature, whose nuances and tones replicated onto fabric.

In 2002, our first fashion show was held, a culmination of RL’s work with Bangladeshi weavers focusing primarily on muslin, who still retained knowledge of this dying art, and traced our roots from the time where it was highly valued, to the present where it was fast disappearing.

The show was a major success, succeeding in establishing the brand, and reviving muslin by channeling it into fashion, and laying a groundwork for a future fashion industry in Bangladesh.  Unfortunately, it also led to widespread counterfeiting, and we stopped holding any further major shows in Bangladesh.

In April 2018, the label held its first major show since 2002, entitled “An Odyssey into Imagination – Thirty Years of Rina Latif”.
